Welcome to Certified Canine Connections! My name is Nikola and I am the head trainer and owner. I have a passion for all things dog and disability. With a cert IV in Animal Behaviour and Training and currently finalising extra Assitance Dog specialisation it is my hope to walk alongside people on their Assistance Dog training journey.
Having the privledge of working in the animal industry for most of my life through growing on a working farm to training horses for a living and now working exclusively with dogs. It is so incredible what can be used across species and what is exclusively canine.
Pictured is my personal Assistance Dog, Nora, who changes my life for the better daily. Nora has a side kick in Leo, the black Labrador, you may notice him in photos throughout the website and social media posts, he is equal parts clown and cuddles
Outside of dog training I am studying law and psychology in the hopes of being better able to support the teams training with CCC through increased advocacy and a greater understanding of how these incredible dogs are able to impact us in such an amazing way for the better.
After injury required me to need my own dog (Nora) and experiencing the impact she had in my life it has awoken a passion in me to support others in their own training journey. Seeing how canines can support their person in a variety of life challenges humbles me every day.
I believe our dogs are far more intelligent than we often give them credit for and if behaviour is looked at as their way to communicate it creates bonds that are strong and beautiful. These bonds form a wonderful foundation for an Assistance Dog team. I love supporting people in forming these kinds of relationships with their dogs.
